Northern California Deputies Wipe Out Massive Illegal Marijuana Operation

Northern California Deputies Destroy Over 15,000 Illegal Marijuana Plants in July

In a major crackdown on illegal marijuana cultivation, Northern California deputies seized and destroyed over 15,000 illegally grown marijuana plants and approximately 5,000 pounds of processed cannabis in July. The operation was carried out by the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Cannabis Compliance.

The illegal marijuana operation was discovered at five properties in Grass Valley and Smartsville, where deputies found hazardous chemicals, polluted water, and unsanitary conditions. The properties did not have running water, and human waste was present.

The 36-year-old man responsible for the illegal marijuana operation was arrested and charged with illegal cannabis cultivation and six environmental felony charges. The sheriff’s office emphasized that these illegal grows contaminate the environment and use dangerous chemicals on their plants for human consumption.

The destruction of the illegal marijuana plants and processed cannabis is a significant blow to the illegal cannabis industry in Northern California. The operation highlights the importance of enforcing environmental regulations and ensuring public safety in the region.
