Maine Recalls Cannabis Products Over Health and Safety Concerns

Maine Recalls Cannabis Products Due to Health and Safety Concerns

The Maine Office of Cannabis Policy has issued a recall of cannabis products sold at 14 adult-use retail stores across the state due to health and safety concerns. The products, which include pre-ground cannabis flower, pre-rolls, and blunts, were produced by Massachusetts-based Nova Farms and failed bacterial, yeast, and mold testing.

The recalled products, all of the strain “Frosted Cookies,” were sold between September 17 and October 8 at various retail stores in Maine. The products failed tests for microbials, yeast, and mold, which can lead to a range of health issues, including sinus problems, allergies, headaches, dizziness, flu-like symptoms, and fatigue.

Consumers who purchased these products are advised to return them to the retailer or dispose of them. Anyone who has ingested these products and is experiencing symptoms or adverse reactions should contact their physician immediately.

This recall comes a month after the Maine OCP issued its first health and safety recall of cannabis products. The OCP requires all adult-use cannabis in Maine to have a label affixed to the package that includes the product’s batch number. Consumers are encouraged to check the label of their cannabis products for the batch numbers listed below:

* Single 1.5-gram and 3-gram pre-rolls and 1-gram blunts with batch number “1A40D0300002329000005185” and sold between September 28 and October 8.
* 1/8-ounce, 1/2-ounce, and 1-ounce packages of pre-ground flower, 0.5-gram, 1-gram, 1.5-gram, and 3-gram single pre-rolls, and 0.5-gram pre-rolls sold in four-, five-, and 56-packs with batch number “1A40D0300002329000005191” and sold between September 17 and October 8.
