Hampton County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Man for Marijuana Trafficking with Help from K-9 Unit

A 38-year-old man from Summerville, South Carolina, has been arrested and charged with marijuana trafficking after being found with over 30 pounds of the drug. Anthony Simmons was taken into custody by the Hampton County Sheriff’s Office on Friday morning and is currently being held at the Hampton County Detention Center without bond.

The arrest was made possible thanks to the skills of a K-9 unit, consisting of Achilles the dog and his handler. Sheriff Anthony Russell praised the team’s efforts, saying that the arrest was a result of the office’s commitment to targeting the sources of illegal drugs and protecting the community.

The sheriff emphasized that marijuana is illegal in South Carolina, and this arrest sends a strong message to those involved in drug trafficking that Hampton County will continue to pursue justice using all available resources.
