New Jersey Uber Eats Driver Discovers Large Bag of Marijuana in What She Thought Was Burrito Delivery
A New Jersey Uber Eats driver had a shocking discovery when she picked up what she thought was a normal food order from a location in Lindenwold, Camden County, on a Friday night. The order consisted of a burrito wrapped in tin foil, a soup, and a water bottle. However, as she was driving, she noticed a strong, unmistakable odor coming from the bag that didn’t match the food.
The driver, who recognized the smell as marijuana, pulled over and called the police. When an officer arrived, they inspected the package and found that it was not a burrito meal, but rather a large zip-close bag containing an ounce of marijuana. The bag was crumpled up inside the aluminum foil, and there was no sign of any actual food.
The police investigation revealed that the food did not come from a restaurant, and it’s likely that the suspects used Uber’s package delivery option to transport the illegal substance. Uber does not allow the delivery of medication, alcohol, and other illegal substances.
An Uber spokesperson described the incident as “deeply disturbing” and urged drivers to contact local authorities if they see or smell anything suspicious. No charges have been filed in the case, but the incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and awareness for Uber drivers and the public.
This is not the first time that Uber drivers in the area have been targeted by criminals using the platform to transport illegal substances. In a similar incident over the summer, an Uber driver was asked to deliver bogus gift cards. The Washington Township Police Department is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
