Kentucky Selects 48 Medical Marijuana Dispensary Winners Amid Uncertainty Over Program’s Timely Launch

Kentucky Awards 48 Medical Marijuana Dispensary Licenses

Kentucky has selected 48 medical marijuana dispensary license winners, following two separate lotteries held in December. The winning applicants will be able to operate dispensaries across the state, with some notable exceptions. Louisville and Lexington are allowed to have two dispensaries each, while no other county can have more than one.

A map has been released showing the counties where some of the dispensaries will be located. However, not all 48 winners are displayed, as some applicants were in the same county and will be relocated within their designated region. The exact locations of the dispensaries are not yet available.

Medical marijuana is set to become legal in Kentucky on January 1, but it remains unclear whether the program will be fully operational by that date.
