San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies Seize Massive Marijuana Stash Worth $100 Million
In a significant bust, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies discovered over 90,000 pounds of marijuana on a 5-acre ranch in the Hesperia area. The massive stash, worth an estimated $100 million, was found in a 120-by-40-foot metal building, where it was piled 12 feet high in 3,000 black trash bags. Each bag contained processed marijuana, weighing between 30 to 50 pounds.
The discovery was made on Monday when sheriff’s deputies from the marijuana enforcement team executed a search warrant at the property. It took two days and 51 truckloads to haul away the seized marijuana, with the help of county code enforcement and officers from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
While no arrests have been made, the investigation is ongoing. The sheriff’s department has not yet announced plans for the seized marijuana, including whether it will be destroyed. The bust highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat large-scale illegal cannabis operations in California, where residents aged 21 and over are allowed to grow up to six cannabis plants for personal use.
