DoorDash Expands to Deliver Cannabis Products
In a move to cater to the growing demand for hemp-derived THC and CBD products, DoorDash, a leading online delivery service, has announced the launch of home delivery of cannabis products. The company has partnered with various businesses, including Total Wine & More, ABC Fine Wine & Spirits, and others, to deliver a wide range of products such as gummies, beverages, chocolates, mints, and honey sticks.
DoorDash’s new “CBD/THC” tab will be available in the app for customers in states where delivery of hemp-derived cannabis products is legal. The company has implemented multiple safeguards to ensure that customers ordering these products are of legal age, including electronic identification verification.
According to a Harris Poll survey, nearly 75% of adults aged 21-65 are considering incorporating THC/CBD products into their routine to relax and decompress. DoorDash aims to provide customers with a convenient and safe way to access these products, which will be available from DashMart, a DoorDash store and fulfillment platform offering delivery services for local businesses.
The company has also partnered with Cann, a THC drink manufacturer, to offer a promotion that includes $2 off a multipack purchase of Cann products from the DoorDash platform. The promotion is valid until January 31.
Industry executives have welcomed DoorDash’s entry into the cannabis delivery market. Adam Terry, CEO of Cantrip, a hemp-derived THC beverage manufacturer, said, “By breaking into the new ecosystem of direct delivery with an unparalleled partner like DoorDash, more Americans can access safe, quality THC products than ever before.”
However, not everyone is pleased with DoorDash’s move. Mike Khemmoro, chief operating officer of Mango Cannabis, expressed concerns about the lack of regulation in the hemp market, stating that it creates gaps in consumer protection and product integrity.
DoorDash’s entry into the cannabis delivery market comes at a time when several states are considering new regulations on intoxicating hemp products. The company’s move is seen as a step towards the normalization and mainstream acceptance of cannabis products.
In conclusion, DoorDash’s expansion into cannabis delivery is a significant development in the industry, providing customers with a convenient and safe way to access hemp-derived THC and CBD products. While some industry executives have welcomed the move, others have expressed concerns about the lack of regulation in the hemp market.
