Florida Authorities Crack Down on Elaborate Marijuana Grow House and Utility Theft Operation

Florida Law Enforcement Busts Elaborate Marijuana Grow House and Utility Theft Operation

In a significant crackdown on illegal drug activity, the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, has seized a massive marijuana grow house containing nearly $200,000 worth of plants. The operation, dubbed “elaborate” by authorities, also involved the theft of over $100,000 worth of utilities.

Detectives discovered 194 marijuana plants valued at approximately $194,000, as well as 100 pounds of marijuana “shake,” which is the small leaves, stems, and buds that fall off marijuana plants. The suspect also tampered with PRECO utilities, resulting in theft totaling more than $100,000.

The suspect faces multiple charges, including trafficking in marijuana and theft of utilities. The sheriff’s office has not released the location of the grow house or the name of the suspect.

Sheriff Vent Crawford emphasized the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions, stating, “This investigation highlights our commitment to have a zero tolerance on illegal drug activities in our community and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.” He also noted that the theft of utilities places an undue burden on local residents and businesses.

The Hardee County Sheriff’s Office is committed to combating illegal drug activity and protecting the community. This operation is a significant step towards achieving that goal.
