Manteca’s First Marijuana Dispensary Opens Its Doors, Bringing Relief and Revenue to the Community

Manteca’s First Marijuana Dispensary Holds Soft Opening

After years of anticipation, the first marijuana dispensary in Manteca, California, has finally opened its doors. Off the Charts, a Southern California-based company, has nine locations throughout the state and is now expanding to the city of Manteca. The dispensary’s soft opening marks a significant milestone for the community, which has been waiting for this moment for over four years.

For some, this new business is a lifesaver. Benjamin Sanchez, Jr., who is in remission from stage four cancer, uses marijuana as part of his recovery. He credits the drug with helping him manage his pain, saying it was the only thing that worked for him. Sanchez’s experience is not unique, as many people turn to marijuana as a more natural alternative to opioids.

Despite the growing demand for marijuana, the industry is facing new challenges. Off the Charts’ regional manager, Melina Robles, notes that some dispensaries are struggling to stay afloat due to overpricing their products. However, Robles is confident that the demand in Manteca alone will be enough to keep the doors open.

Security is also a top priority for the dispensary. The store uses license plate readers to monitor activity and has a security guard on site to verify customers’ IDs and ensure a safe shopping environment.

As part of its partnership with the city, Off the Charts will pay a 1% community benefit tax, which will go directly into the city’s general fund. The dispensary will officially open its doors on Valentine’s Day.

The soft opening of Off the Charts marks the beginning of a new era for marijuana in Manteca. With two more dispensaries planned to open in the city, residents can look forward to a wider range of options for their cannabis needs.
