Oakland Woman Arrested for Trying to Sneak 51 Pounds of Marijuana on Flight to Indianapolis

A 35-year-old woman was arrested at Oakland International Airport after attempting to smuggle 51 pounds of marijuana and 22 packages of cannabis-infused gummies onto a flight to Indianapolis. The woman, who has not been charged, allegedly made little effort to conceal the contraband, placing it in her luggage and checking it with Southwest Airlines.

The incident occurred on December 22, with the help of a police K9 named Luna. However, the dog’s assistance was not necessary, as the luggage had already been flagged by authorities. The woman was arrested before the flight took off and refused to provide a statement. She was booked into jail and the seized items were taken into evidence.

The investigation is ongoing, and the woman has not been charged at this time. The incident highlights the importance of airport security and the efforts of law enforcement to prevent the illegal transportation of drugs.
