California Highway Patrol Seizes Over 200 Pounds of Marijuana and $36,000 in Cash During Traffic Stop

A driver was arrested by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) on February 19 after being pulled over for speeding on Interstate 580 in Dublin. The driver, who was going over 100 miles per hour in a 2018 Honda Accord, was stopped by an officer who noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Upon further investigation, the officer found over 200 pounds of marijuana and $36,703 in cash.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale and was taken into custody at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. The identity of the driver has not been released, and it is unclear if they are still in custody.

The CHP officer who made the stop noticed a strong smell of marijuana when he approached the driver’s window and asked for a license and registration. The driver also had several trash bags filled with marijuana in plain view, which prompted the officer to call in backup.

The discovery of the large amount of marijuana and cash led to the driver’s arrest and booking into jail. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat drug trafficking and illegal activities on California’s highways.
