A former employee of the South Dakota Department of Health has been charged with forging her own medical marijuana card while she was still employed with the state. Alexandra Feiner, 24, faces four counts of falsifying her medical marijuana card, including forgery, offering a false or forged instrument, possession of a forged instrument, and falsification of public records.
According to the charges, Feiner allegedly avoided the medical provider certification requirement and the fee for the card, using her position of trust to benefit herself. The alleged crimes took place between March 2024 and March 2025.
The investigation was conducted by the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation, with the cooperation of the State Department of Health. Attorney General Marty Jackley stated that Feiner is charged with using her position for personal gain.
Feiner has been charged with four counts, including one felony count of forgery, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. She also faces two felony counts, each carrying a maximum sentence of two years in prison, as well as a misdemeanor count, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in county jail.
No initial court appearance has been scheduled for Feiner, who is presumed innocent under the U.S. Constitution.
