Marijuana Users Defy Stereotypes: Regular Exercise and Healthy Habits Abound

New Survey Reveals Marijuana Users Are Health-Conscious, Defying Stereotypes

A recent survey conducted by NuggMD, a cannabis telehealth platform, has found that marijuana consumers are more likely to engage in regular exercise than drink alcohol or eat fast food. The poll, which questioned 603 cannabis users, revealed that 27.4% of respondents exercise daily, while 34.9% do so multiple times a week. In contrast, only 6.1% of respondents drink alcohol daily, and 1.5% eat fast food daily.

The survey also found that marijuana consumers are 4.8 times more likely to exercise regularly than eat fast food, and nearly three times more likely to exercise regularly than drink alcohol. These findings contradict the common stereotype that marijuana use leads to a sedentary lifestyle.

“This data shows that cannabis consumers are more likely to exercise and less likely to eat fast food than the average U.S. adult,” said Andrew Graham, head of communications at NuggMD. “Previous polling we’ve done shows cannabis has a distinct replacement effect on alcohol use, and this poll charts a similar direction.”

The survey also revealed that relatively few marijuana consumers frequently use food delivery services, with only 3.3% reporting daily use and 8.3% reporting multiple times a week. In contrast, 69.5% of respondents said they drink coffee regularly, and 64.8% said they take nutritional supplements.

The findings are consistent with previous studies that have shown that cannabis users exercise at average or above-average levels compared to non-users. The survey’s results also suggest that marijuana consumption prior to exercise can lead to greater enjoyment and an enhanced “runner’s high.”

The data has significant implications for the cannabis industry, as it challenges the long-held stigma that marijuana use is linked to a lack of motivation or physical activity. Instead, the survey suggests that many marijuana consumers prioritize their health and wellness, and that cannabis can be a part of a healthy lifestyle.
