Ohio Expands Marijuana Purchase Limits for Recreational Users
Ohio has increased the amount of marijuana flower that recreational users can purchase from dispensaries, from 1 ounce to 2.5 ounces. This change comes as the state’s recreational marijuana program continues to grow, with 149 licensed dispensaries now operating in the state.
The increase in purchase limits was made possible by the state’s Division of Cannabis Control, which has determined that the market can support both medical marijuana patients and recreational users. The limit for edibles and vape cartridges remains unchanged, with a maximum daily purchase of 15,000mg of THC.
The increased purchase limits are expected to benefit rural dispensaries and consumers who live in areas with limited access to cannabis. According to Brian Wingfield, co-founder of Ohio Cannabis Company, the change will allow customers to stock up on product and reduce the need for frequent trips to dispensaries.
The move comes as state lawmakers consider further changes to the recreational marijuana program, including regulations on home-grown cannabis, a cap on the number of dispensaries, and changes to how tax dollars are spent. Despite the ongoing debate, the increased purchase limits are a positive development for recreational marijuana users in Ohio.
