Connecticut Marijuana Prices Remain High Compared to Massachusetts
As of mid-2025, the average price of marijuana in Connecticut is significantly higher than in neighboring Massachusetts. According to data from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, the average price per gram of usable cannabis in June 2025 was $9.46, while in Massachusetts, the average retail cost per gram of marijuana flower was just $3.31, according to the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission.
This price disparity is not a new phenomenon. Even looking at data from a year earlier, the pattern holds: in June 2024, Connecticut’s price was $12.16 per gram, while Massachusetts reported $5.31 per gram in April 2024. The main factor contributing to this difference is likely the more mature market in Massachusetts, which legalized recreational marijuana in 2016, six years before Connecticut.
As a result, Connecticut consumers are paying significantly more per gram of marijuana than their Massachusetts counterparts. This is due to a smaller supply and less competition in the Connecticut market, which has been in place since the state legalized recreational marijuana in 2021.
