Free Hemp Products Offered in City with Recreational Marijuana Ban
Residents of a city in Ohio were surprised to find flyers on their doorsteps offering free hemp products, including joints, despite the city’s ban on recreational marijuana. The smoke shop, Bud City, claims to operate under the 2018 Farm Bill, which defines hemp as cannabis containing 0.3% or less THC, a key difference from marijuana.
General Manager Jesse Burns explained that the shop, which has been open for less than a month, is trying to spread the word about its hemp products. However, some residents were concerned that marijuana was being sold illegally, leading them to reach out to local news outlets.
Burns emphasized that Bud City does not sell Delta 8 or CBD products, and instead focuses on educating customers about the difference between hemp and marijuana. The shop’s ultimate goal is to open a marijuana dispensary in the future, but for now, it is building a customer base in Fairborn.
The controversy highlights the ongoing debate surrounding marijuana laws and the need for clear education on the differences between hemp and marijuana.
