Belmont County’s First Recreational Marijuana Dispensary Now Open for Business

Belmont County’s First Recreational Marijuana Dispensary Opens in St. Clairsville

A milestone was reached on Friday as the Cannabist Company opened its doors to become the first recreational and medical marijuana dispensary in Belmont County. Located at 51710 National Rd E., the store is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Keri Stan, the company’s director of national retail operations, explained that the decision to expand to Belmont County was driven by its central location within the county and the lack of dispensaries in the area. Stan, who grew up in Washington County, has family ties to the region and saw an opportunity to bring a much-needed service to the community.

The dispensary’s license was issued through the Ohio Department of Commerce’s 10(B) dispensary license program, which allows medical marijuana dispensaries to apply for a license to sell recreational marijuana. The Cannabist Company has a strong presence in Ohio, with five medical marijuana dispensaries and a cultivation and processing facility, all of which produce products sold in the store.

The store employs 19 local residents and offers a wide range of products, including flower, vape cartridges, tinctures, topicals, sublinguals, and edibles such as gummies, drinks, and chocolate. Customers can purchase up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana per visit, and the store also sells accessories like batteries, vape devices, lighters, and rolling papers.

Stan emphasized the company’s commitment to being a good neighbor and community partner, with plans to engage in community outreach and support local initiatives. To enter the store, customers must be 21 or older and provide a valid driver’s license.

The Cannabist Company’s expansion into Belmont County marks a significant milestone in the region’s growing cannabis industry, providing a new option for residents and visitors alike.
