Thieves Steal Over $1,400 Worth of Marijuana from DC Dispensary
A cannabis dispensary in Washington D.C.’s Adams Morgan neighborhood was robbed over the weekend, just two months after opening its doors. The suspect, who posed as a customer, entered the store on Sunday evening and made off with nearly $1,400 worth of marijuana.
According to security footage, the thief, wearing a bright yellow jacket, checked in as a customer and waited patiently while others were served ahead of him. He then asked questions, smelled the cannabis, and flashed a gun before putting on a mask and fleeing the scene with two large jars of marijuana.
The dispensary, Blunt Sluts Cannabis Club, is focused on catering to women and the LGBTQ+ community, but welcomes all customers who complete their security checks. The owners are shaken by the incident but are committed to continuing their mission to provide relief to the community.
The thief left behind a large bowl of cash tips on the counter, and the dispensary’s employees followed all safety protocols during the robbery. The owners are adding additional security measures to prevent future incidents.
As of Monday evening, no arrest had been made, and the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the incident. The dispensary’s co-owner, Shelby Fountain, expressed her concerns about the robbery, saying it was “upsetting” but hoped the business could continue to thrive and provide relief to those in need.
