San Francisco May Embrace Cannabis Cafes with Food and Drinks

San Francisco May Allow Cannabis Cafes to Serve Food and Drinks

San Francisco is considering joining the growing list of California cities that permit the consumption of food and drinks at licensed cannabis cafes. The proposal is set to be introduced by County Board of Supervisors President Rafael Mandelman, who represents District 8, during the Board of Supervisors’ regular meeting on Tuesday.

Mandelman emphasized the importance of supporting the legal cannabis industry, stating that San Francisco and California often hinder its growth instead of embracing it. His plan aims to amend several city codes to accommodate cannabis cafes, which would offer a range of products beyond infused goods, including regular pastries, snacks, and non-alcoholic beverages.

This move is made possible by a state law passed in 2024, authored by Assemblymember Matt Haney, which allows local jurisdictions to sell non-infused goods at dispensaries. The law seeks to promote the legal cannabis industry and provide customers with a more diverse range of products.
