New Jersey Residents Get to Judge the Best Cannabis Products at the First-Ever “Cannabis Cup” Competition
High Times, a renowned publication dedicated to cannabis culture, is hosting its first-ever “Cannabis Cup” competition in New Jersey. The event allows consumers to sample and vote for their favorite cannabis products from participating businesses across the state. This people’s-choice format replaces the traditional judging panel, giving hundreds of participants the opportunity to provide feedback on the products.
The competition is modeled after a successful event held in New York City, and High Times is excited to bring the same energy to New Jersey. Submissions for the competition opened on March 1, and public voting will run until April 20, which is the industry’s unofficial celebration day.
Each judge’s kit will include a selection of products from various brands, along with a scorecard to rate the cannabis based on aesthetics, aroma, taste, and overall quality. The kits will be available through retailers and online, featuring products in categories such as cannabis flower, concentrates, beverages, and gummies.
High Times Publisher Josh Kesselman emphasized the importance of celebrating the cannabis culture and community, stating that the event will be an “awesome” experience for the participants. Editor-in-Chief Javier Hasse added that the competition puts the power in the hands of the people who know good cannabis, rather than relying on influencers or mystery judges.
The judge kits will go on sale on Wednesday, and the judging period will run until April 20. The winners will be announced in May. This unique event gives New Jersey residents a chance to participate in the cannabis industry and help determine the best products in the state.
