Washington D.C. to Allow Cannabis-Infused Beverages Through Local Brewery Partnerships
A new bill introduced by Mayor Muriel Bowser aims to create a new market for cannabis-infused beverages in Washington D.C. The Medical Cannabis Beverage Product Amendment Act of 2026 would permit licensed cannabis manufacturers to partner with local breweries and distilleries to produce non-alcoholic, cannabis-infused drinks for registered medical cannabis patients.
The bill is designed to support local businesses and expand treatment options for patients. By partnering with local breweries and distilleries, cannabis manufacturers would be able to produce a new range of products, providing patients with a safer and smoke-free alternative.
“This is an opportunity to support two local industries and keep business in D.C.,” said Mayor Bowser. “Our city has a thriving medical cannabis market and a vibrant craft beer and spirits scene. By bringing these two industries together, we can create a unique and innovative product that benefits patients and supports local businesses.”
The bill is expected to boost local businesses and provide patients with a new range of treatment options. With this new market, patients will have access to a wider variety of products, and local businesses will benefit from the partnership. The bill is a step forward in the city’s efforts to support its local economy and provide innovative treatment options for medical cannabis patients.
