Massachusetts Cannabis Sales Skyrocket After Purchase Limit Increase

Massachusetts Cannabis Sales Soar After Purchase Limit Increase

The newly-doubled marijuana purchase limit in Massachusetts has led to a surge in sales, with consumers taking advantage of the increased limit on the state’s busiest sales days. The limit, which was doubled from one to two ounces of marijuana flower or its equivalent, was implemented immediately after Governor Maura Healey signed the law on April 19.

According to data provided by the Cannabis Control Commission, the first two days under the new limit saw a significant increase in sales. On April 19, 133 purchases exceeded the old one-ounce limit, totaling $17,400. The following day, April 20, also known as 4/20, saw 767 purchases in excess of one ounce, worth a total of $99,667. Cumulatively, the state’s marijuana businesses generated $7.32 million in total sales on April 20.

The increase in sales is attributed to the restructuring of the Cannabis Control Commission, which aimed to improve the state’s cannabis industry. The new limit allows consumers to purchase more marijuana, leading to a significant boost in sales. With the state’s cannabis businesses generating millions of dollars in sales, the new limit is expected to have a positive impact on the industry.
