A proposed cannabis dispensary with a drive-thru is being considered for a site in North Brunswick’s MainStreet North Brunswick Transit Village, located on Route 1. North Brunswick TOD Associates LLC is seeking approval to construct a 3,800-square-foot dispensary on a site that was previously approved for an 1,800-square-foot retail space with a drive-thru pad.
The proposed dispensary would be built on a 1.5-acre property, which is currently used as a temporary parking lot for NJ Transit buses. The site is situated in the northwest quadrant of the intersection of Commerce Boulevard and Grand Avenue/Station Avenue, and would have access via a full-movement driveway along Grand Avenue.
The developer plans to maintain the existing driveway and construct a new egress-only driveway along Grand Avenue. The property is located in the I-2 Industrial Zone with a Transit-Oriented Mixed-Use Development Overlay Zone Standards.
A public hearing on the application is scheduled for the December 3 Planning Board meeting. This is the latest in a series of development applications and approvals obtained for the MainStreet North Brunswick Transit Village Development, which includes the construction of a Target, Costco, Courtyard by Marriot, Green Turtle, Panera, and various residential uses.
