Ohio’s Recreational Marijuana Sales Ignite with Record-Breaking Numbers

Ohio’s Legal Recreational Marijuana Sales Soar in First Week

Just one week after the first legal recreational marijuana sale was made in Ohio, dispensaries are reporting a surge in sales. According to Jason Erkes, of Cresco Labs, the numbers are “tremendous” and have put Ohio on par with other states that have launched adult-use marijuana programs.

The Sunnyside dispensary in Cincinnati saw a line of customers around the building on its opening day, despite less-than-ideal grand opening conditions. Erkes noted that the store’s response was impressive, with over 1,000 customers visiting daily. Ethos in Lebanon, which previously sold medical marijuana, has also seen an increase in sales since opening for recreational use four days ago.

Ethos vice president of retail Julie Power expects the demand to continue, stating that the company has been preparing to meet the surge in demand. The state has yet to release overall sales and tax revenue numbers for the first week, but operators are optimistic about the future of the industry in Ohio.
