Colorado Dispensaries Recall Marijuana Products Due to Pesticide Contamination
A voluntary recall has been issued for pre-rolls and marijuana flower sold at approximately 40 dispensaries in Colorado due to contamination with pesticides. The products, which were sold between April 24 and June 5, were found to have levels of the pesticide chlorfenapyr above the state’s allowed limits.
The contaminated products, which include Caviar Creamsicle and Caviar Sherbert Pie flower and Strawberries N Cream pre-rolls, were manufactured by Verv LLC, doing business as Dadirri. According to the company’s CEO, Ashley Schriener, the contaminated THC distillate was purchased from another company and had passed lab safety tests before being infused into their products.
However, additional testing revealed the presence of the pesticide, which prompted the company to work with state officials to issue the recall. Schriener emphasized that the company takes pride in using high-quality inputs and prioritizing cleanliness, and that this incident was an isolated occurrence.
Consumers who purchased the affected products are advised to return them to the store where they were bought and to seek medical attention if they experience any adverse reactions. The Marijuana Enforcement Division is investigating the matter and has asked anyone who got sick after consuming the products to report their reaction.
This recall serves as a reminder of the importance of ensuring the quality and safety of cannabis products, particularly in the face of growing concerns about pesticide use in the industry.
