Oklahoma City Metro Marijuana Businesses Targeted by Masked Suspects in Break-Ins
Marijuana businesses in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, including Del City and Moore, have been hit by a series of break-in attempts by masked suspects. The incidents have prompted owners to increase security measures to protect their properties.
Trisha Langteau, owner of Fabulous Cannabis, described the suspects as carrying tools, including a saw or cutting wheel and a pry bar. She noted that multiple individuals would arrive at the scene, with one acting as a lookout. Langteau believes that the suspects are targeting multiple businesses in the area, stating, “All of us have a target on our back.”
The Del City and Moore police departments are investigating the incidents, which share similarities despite not being directly linked. A recent report detailed a group of eight suspects, wearing masks and gloves, breaking into a grow operation in Moore just before 4 a.m. Other businesses in the area received alerts of a large group attempting to break in shortly before this incident.
In response to the break-ins, business owners are taking extra precautions to secure their properties. Langteau emphasized the importance of increased security, stating, “We just assume they’re going to be back, so we have to add extra security measures to ensure they’re not going to get in. But they’re putting their lives in danger, they’re going to encounter possible business owners, guard dogs, security companies, and law enforcement. There’s nothing in any of these businesses that’s worth their life.”
The police have not yet identified the group responsible for the break-ins, but the investigation is ongoing. The incidents have raised concerns among marijuana business owners in the area, who are working to stay one step ahead of the suspects and protect their properties.
