Texas Original Expands into the Future of Medical Cannabis in the Lone Star State

Texas Original, a medical marijuana company, has opened a new facility in Bastrop, just southeast of Austin. The 65,000-square-foot facility is nearly 10 times larger than the company’s previous headquarters and features a hybrid greenhouse for plant cultivation, manufacturing labs, testing labs, packaging, dispensing, and distribution operations.

The expansion comes at a pivotal time, as House Bill 46 has recently been passed, broadening access to medical cannabis in Texas. The new law allows for the inclusion of more conditions, such as hospice patients and those with chronic pain, and permits the use of new delivery methods, including aerosol and vapor products.

Texas Original’s CEO, Nico Richardson, stated that the new facility represents the future of medical cannabis in Texas and will enable the company to serve more patients across the state with high-quality products. The expansion is expected to meet the growing demand for medical cannabis in Texas, which has seen a significant increase in the number of patients accessing the compassionate use program.

The new facility is located at 176 FM 969 in Bastrop and is expected to create new jobs in the area. The company’s previous 7,700-square-foot headquarters will be scaled down, making way for future innovations.

The expansion of Texas Original’s facility is a significant development in the medical cannabis industry in Texas, which has seen rapid growth in recent years. With the new law in place, the company is well-positioned to meet the increasing demand for medical cannabis products in the state.
