A 34-year-old man from Troy, Michigan was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after being clocked traveling at speeds over 100 mph. The incident occurred on August 30th at 3:48 am when officers stopped the driver, identified as a 34-year-old man, for excessive speeding and disregarding a traffic signal on Rochester Road and E. Maple Road. Upon speaking with the driver, officers noticed his bloodshot and watery eyes, and detected a strong odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle. The driver was also found to have a suspended license.
The officers asked the driver to perform sobriety evaluations, which he allegedly failed. A preliminary breath test revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.15%, and the driver was subsequently arrested. During a search of the driver’s vehicle, officers found two large duffle bags containing 3.93 pounds of marijuana and an additional $12,000 in cash. The driver also had over $6,400 in cash on his person.
The driver was read his chemical test rights while in custody, but refused to take a breath test. A search warrant was granted, and the driver’s blood was drawn. The case has been turned over to the detective bureau for potential warrants.
