Kentucky’s Medical Marijuana Expansion Continues with Frankfort Dispensary Opening
The state of Kentucky has taken another step forward in its rollout of medical marijuana, with the opening of a new dispensary in Frankfort. NuEra Cannabis, the fifth licensed dispensary in the state, officially opened its doors on Friday, offering a range of flower products to patients in need.
For Randall Cunningham, the opening was a personal milestone. The 41-year-old from Shelbyville has been living with chronic pain after suffering multiple severe injuries, including four broken backs and shattered bones from his neck to his hips. He was one of the first in line at the new dispensary, desperate for relief from his debilitating condition.
“I broke my back four times. Got shattered from my neck to my hips,” Cunningham explained. “It’s the only way I can alleviate the pain.” He credits medical marijuana with giving him a new lease on life, allowing him to manage his pain and live more comfortably.
NuEra Cannabis officials say they are committed to providing high-quality products to patients like Cunningham, who are seeking relief from a range of medical conditions. The dispensary, which will be open daily from 11am to 7pm, will initially offer eight different flower products, with more options expected to become available in the coming weeks.
Kentucky’s medical marijuana program has made significant progress since it was legalized last year. The state has licensed 81 medical cannabis-related businesses, and more than 17,000 patients have been approved for a medical cannabis card. Dispensaries like NuEra Cannabis are playing a crucial role in making medical marijuana accessible to patients across the state.
For Cunningham, the availability of medical marijuana has been a game-changer. “It means freedom from pain,” he said. “It means a lot to me.” As the state continues to expand its medical marijuana program, patients like Cunningham are reaping the benefits of this life-changing treatment.
