Oakland Marijuana Dispensary Rammed by Burglars, Thieves Make Off with Stolen Goods
In a brazen early morning burglary, a group of thieves rammed a car into a marijuana dispensary near Lake Merritt in Oakland, California, making off with stolen goods before fleeing the scene. The break-in occurred at around 3:45 am, with several carloads of burglars arriving at the Oakanna dispensary on Lakeshore Avenue.
Police responded quickly to the scene, with officers arriving to find two cars speeding away with stolen products. A third car, a Honda Accord, was still rolling down the street. The dispensary’s front entrance was damaged in the ramming, and items were scattered all over the street.
The burglary has left the dispensary’s customers and staff shaken. “They told me they got robbed this morning, and their selections were a little bit slim,” said a customer who wished to remain anonymous. “Folks are gonna rob places when they want something they can’t afford. Truth of the matter.”
The incident is the latest in a string of burglaries to hit the dispensary, which has been targeted multiple times in the past. “Being robbed five times in six years definitely was a big factor” in the decision to close the dispensary, said Tucky Blunt, owner of Blunts and Moore dispensary in East Oakland.
The community is calling for action to be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. “Something’s gotta be done,” said Blunt. “If they don’t want to learn how to do the game and get in the game the legal way, quit robbing us. You’re killing the business. There’s no way to survive being robbed multiple times.”
The Oakland Police Department is investigating the incident and has not yet released any information on the suspects or the stolen goods.
