A New York Man Arrested in Mississippi for Trafficking Marijuana

A 27-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York, was arrested in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, after a traffic stop led to the discovery of 126 pounds of marijuana. The incident occurred on January 8, 2025, around 2:30 pm, when the Hattiesburg Police Traffic Interdiction Unit pulled over a vehicle on I-59 for a moving violation.

During the stop, a K-9 unit named Dino was deployed to search the vehicle, which indicated the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search revealed the large quantity of marijuana, as well as $13,700 in cash.

The driver, Jieyuan Chen, was taken into custody without incident and charged with one count of trafficking controlled substances. He was booked into Forrest County Jail and was being held on a $40,000 bond.
