Kansas Law Enforcement Crack Down on Illegal Marijuana Sales
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has launched a statewide enforcement operation to combat the illegal sale of marijuana and THC vape cartridges. On October 1, KBI agents, along with law enforcement partners, executed search warrants at vape shops and CBD dispensaries across the state, seizing products containing illegal concentrations of THC.
The operation, which is ongoing, targeted businesses selling marijuana vegetation, THC vape cartridges, and other illegal substances. In some cases, weapons and currency were also seized. The KBI will submit case findings to prosecutors for charging decisions, which could include unlawful distribution of controlled substances and possession of controlled substances with intent to sell.
Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach and KBI Director Tony Mattivi emphasized the dangers of illegal substances, particularly their accessibility to children. “These illegal substances are in our homes, schools, and in the hands of our children,” said Mattivi. “We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to remove these poisons from our streets.”
Kobach added, “These brazen illegal activities are unacceptable. We will enforce the law in Kansas, and it’s crucial that we do so to protect the health and safety of our citizens, especially our children.”
The KBI has identified several businesses that were targeted in the operation, including EZ Smoke and Vape, Whiskey River Trading, and Sacred Leaf. The investigation is ongoing, and the KBI will continue to work with law enforcement partners to remove illegal substances from the state’s streets.
