Ohio Marijuana Businesses Sue Regulators Over Advertising and Product Restrictions

A group of Ohio marijuana companies has taken legal action against the state’s cannabis control division, alleging that the regulations governing advertising and products are overly restrictive and violate the voter-approved law that legalized recreational marijuana in Ohio. Ancient Roots, Fire Rock, and five other businesses filed a lawsuit on September 17, nearly two years after Ohio voters approved the legalization of recreational marijuana in the November 2023 election. The lawsuit aims to challenge the Division of Cannabis Control’s rules, which the companies claim are too strict and hinder their ability to operate effectively in the state’s marijuana market.
