Smoke Shop Shut Down in South Carolina After Discovery of Large Marijuana Stash and Counterfeit Cash
A smoke shop in Gaffney, South Carolina, has been shut down by authorities after a large quantity of marijuana, counterfeit cash, and packaging materials linked to drug distribution were found on the premises. The discovery was made on Wednesday at around 1 p.m. when a code enforcement officer responded to a report of a business operating without a license at the Gaffney Smokeshop, located at 1703 West Floyd Baker Boulevard.
The code officer subsequently shut down the business and arrested the attendant for operating without a valid license. However, upon securing the building, officers noticed suspected illegal narcotics in plain view, prompting the Gaffney Police Department to be called in to conduct a follow-up investigation.
A search warrant was executed, revealing a significant amount of marijuana, as well as counterfeit money and various items and packaging materials consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics. As a result, the business attendant faces additional charges related to narcotics offenses.
The investigation is ongoing, with no further details released at this time. The shutdown of the smoke shop and the arrest of the attendant serve as a reminder of the efforts of law enforcement to combat illegal activities and ensure public safety in the community. The case highlights the importance of cooperation between different agencies and the need for vigilance in identifying and addressing potential threats to public health and safety.
