Alabama’s First Medical Cannabis Dispensary to Open in Montgomery
The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission has announced that the state’s first medical cannabis dispensary, Callie’s Apothecary, is set to open in Montgomery on May 4. Commission officials toured the facility before their latest meeting, praising its design and security measures.
According to Chairman Dr. Sam Blakemore, the dispensary’s layout was reminiscent of a traditional pharmacy. Director John McMillan highlighted the facility’s advanced security features, including cameras, lights, and locks. To ensure patient safety, staff will take a picture of each patient’s medical cannabis card and verify it through the system before allowing them to enter the premises.
Once open, Callie’s Apothecary will become the first medical cannabis dispensary in Alabama’s history, providing patients with access to this new form of treatment.
