Garda Forces Seize Record-Breaking €8.5 Million Haul of Cannabis in Dublin Operation

Ireland’s Garda Forces Seize Record-Breaking Amount of Cannabis, Arrest Four Suspects

In a major operation, Irish authorities have seized a massive haul of cannabis worth an estimated €8.5 million on the streets. The drugs, weighing 429 kilograms (946 pounds), were discovered during a planned search of business premises in Dublin’s Ballymount area. The operation, part of the country’s enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, Operation Tara, saw gardaí intercept two vehicles and arrest four men aged 31, 45, 52, and 58.

The suspects, accused of facilitating and enhancing a criminal organization to commit drug trafficking offenses, are currently being held at Garda stations in the Dublin area. Assistant Commissioner Justin Kelly hailed the operation as a significant step in targeting the enablers and facilitators of global drug trafficking networks, making Ireland a less hospitable environment for them to operate.

The record-breaking seizure is a testament to the Garda Forces’ commitment to disrupting and dismantling organized crime networks involved in the illegal drug trade. The operation is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s drug landscape, sending a strong message to those involved in the illegal drug trade that Ireland will not tolerate their activities.
