Colorado Cannabis Companies Shift Focus to Weaker Weed to Attract New Customers

In an effort to attract more hesitant customers, Colorado cannabis companies are now offering weaker weed products. Industry leaders say that low-dose cannabis products are in high demand, particularly among those who are new to cannabis or seeking alternative solutions for anxiety, sleep, and pain relief.

Terrapin Care Station, a Denver dispensary, has seen an increase in customers seeking low-dose products. Area manager Adam Shepler notes that the shop will soon be carrying flower that is half CBD, half THC, catering to customers who want the benefits of cannabis without the overwhelming high.

Companies like Dialed In Gummies, Wana Brands, and Sun Theory Holding Co. are leading the charge in providing low-dose products. Dialed In Gummies, for example, has released a line of gummies with 5 milligrams of THC, 5 milligrams of CBN, and 5 milligrams of CBD per edible. Wana Brands’ Quick Calm gummies mix 10 milligrams of CBD, 10 milligrams of CBG, and 1 milligram of THC per piece.

The shift towards weaker weed products is seen as a response to changing consumer trends and the growing popularity of cannabis. According to the Marijuana Industry Group, low-dose cannabis products are one of the products in demand right now. Truman Bradley, CEO and executive director of the group, notes that product development and evolving consumer trends have been a cornerstone of Colorado cannabis since legalization.

While some companies are still focused on making potent products, others are recognizing the need to cater to a broader range of customers. As the cannabis industry continues to evolve, it’s likely that we’ll see more companies offering low-dose products to appeal to a wider audience.
