Marijuana Smuggler Busted at Dulles Airport with 71 Pounds of Weed

Seizure of 71 Pounds of Marijuana at Washington Dulles International Airport

A 30-year-old woman from The Colony, Texas, was arrested at Washington Dulles International Airport after customs officials discovered 71 pounds of marijuana in her luggage. Du Li Park was charged with various drug offenses on November 23.

CBP officers inspecting baggage on November 22 found two large suitcases containing vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana. The total weight of the marijuana was 71 pounds and 11 ounces, with a street value of up to $330,000 in the United States.

The seizure is part of a growing trend of marijuana smuggling from the US to Europe and Africa, where high-quality weed can fetch prices many times higher than in the US. Depending on potency, the seized load could fetch two to three times more in London.

Bulk marijuana smuggling is illegal, and CBP will continue to work with law enforcement partners to hold smugglers accountable. Travelers who attempt to smuggle large quantities of marijuana for financial gain may face serious consequences.

The seized marijuana was destined for London, and its discovery is a reminder of the importance of enforcing drug laws and preventing the illegal export of controlled substances.
