A 26-year-old man from Leesburg, Florida, was arrested on Wednesday night for possession of a large amount of marijuana. Angel Joel Tito Williams was pulled over by police for a non-functioning tag light on his orange Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. During the stop, officers detected the strong smell of burnt marijuana and found a rolled cigarette and additional marijuana in the vehicle.
Williams admitted to having marijuana on him and a search of the vehicle turned up a total of 54.9 grams of the drug. He claimed that he uses it to alleviate knee pain. As a result, he was taken into custody and charged with a felony. His bond was set at $2,500.
The incident occurred at around 10 p.m. on U.S. 301, and Williams was booked into the Sumter County Detention Center. The arrest report was released by the Wildwood Police Department.
