Kansas Law Enforcement Crack Down on Illegal Marijuana Sales
Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach and Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) Director Tony Mattivi held a press conference to discuss recent raids on businesses suspected of selling illegal THC and marijuana products. On October 1, KBI agents, accompanied by local law enforcement agencies, conducted 10 simultaneous raids across the state, targeting CBD dispensaries and vape shops allegedly selling illegal marijuana products.
Kobach emphasized the importance of enforcing the law, stating that the rule of law is the foundation of the legal system and government. He noted that enforcement of illegal marijuana and THC products had been inconsistent in recent years, but this period of “lax enforcement” is coming to an end. The KBI is now taking the lead in identifying and shutting down businesses selling illegal marijuana products.
Kobach reiterated that selling marijuana remains illegal in Kansas and that law enforcement has a responsibility to enforce the law. The recent raids are part of a renewed effort to crack down on illegal marijuana sales in the state.
