Kansas Law Enforcement Cracks Down on Illegal Marijuana Products

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has released the results of a statewide operation targeting illegal marijuana-based products. The operation, which took place between October 1 and 2, resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of illegal substances and the arrest of two individuals.

According to the KBI, the operation yielded 343.38 pounds of marijuana bud, 43,867 pre-rolled joints, 35,627 THC vapes, and 84,481 THC and psilocybin edibles. Additionally, $35,436 in cash was seized.

Two individuals, Gregory Reese, 63, and Tammy Reese, 59, were arrested in Ulysses for attempting to evade law enforcement detection by transporting illegal THC products. Gregory was charged with possession with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and other related offenses. Tammy was charged with distribution of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and other related offenses.

The KBI also seized a 20-foot box truck on U.S. Highway 400 near Fredonia, which was transporting THC products removed from the shelves of 19 shops in Kansas. The truck was taken into custody by the KBI.

The operation involved the search of 18 vape shops and CBD dispensaries across Kansas, including locations in Wichita, Topeka, Salina, and other cities. The searches were conducted to take items containing suspected illegal concentrations of THC, with the possibility of filing charges for unlawful distribution of controlled substances and possession of controlled substances with intent to sell.

The KBI is still investigating the seized evidence and has not yet filed charges. The operation was part of a larger effort to crack down on illegal marijuana-based products in Kansas.
