Driver Runs Over Man Outside Seattle Pot Shop, Surveillance Video Shows
A dramatic surveillance video has captured a driver running over a man outside a cannabis shop in Seattle, leaving the victim with serious injuries. The incident occurred on Friday morning outside Shawn Kemp’s Cannabis in the Sodo neighborhood.
According to the shop’s general manager and co-owner, Tran Du, the budtender was helping a customer when he stepped away to answer a phone call. The driver, who has not been charged with a crime, allegedly stole cannabis products and then struck the employee with her car before fleeing the scene.
The surveillance video shows the driver hitting the man, who was standing in front of her car, before running over his legs and leaving him motionless on the ground. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he remains hospitalized with a broken ankle, concussion, and cracked skull.
The driver’s car was not found at the scene, and police have not yet located the suspect. The shop is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the driver’s identification and arrest.
Du described the incident as “attempted murder over less than $50 worth of cannabis” and urged anyone with information to come forward. The shop has also shared the driver’s photo and license plate number in hopes of identifying her.
The incident has left the community shaken, and the shop is working with police to bring the driver to justice. The victim is expected to undergo surgery on his ankle and is in good spirits despite his injuries.
