Oklahoma Governor Seeks to Re-Vote on Medical Marijuana Industry

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt Calls for Re-Vote on Medical Marijuana Industry

In his State of the State address, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt expressed his desire to shut down the state’s medical marijuana industry, citing concerns over public safety. Stitt claimed that the industry has spiraled out of control since its legalization in 2018, with more dispensaries than pharmacies in the state.

During his address, Stitt stated that the 2018 vote to legalize medical marijuana was based on false promises and has led to chaos and crime. He called for a re-vote on the issue, giving the people of Oklahoma the opportunity to reconsider their decision.

However, not everyone agrees with Stitt’s stance. Mark Woodward, a representative from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, and Jed Green, director of Oklahomans for Responsible Cannabis Action, have expressed differing opinions on the matter. In an interview with KOCO 5, they discussed the pros and cons of the medical marijuana industry and the potential consequences of a re-vote.

While Stitt’s call to shut down the industry has sparked debate, it remains to be seen whether Oklahomans will ultimately vote to repeal the 2018 measure.
