Baby Boomers Increasingly Turning to Cannabis, According to Report
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has recently updated its guidelines for medical marijuana, providing specific instructions for carrying the substance in both carry-on and checked bags. This change comes as a growing number of baby boomers are turning to cannabis to manage chronic pain, anxiety, nausea, and other qualifying conditions.
According to experts, the goal for most patients is not to use cannabis during the flight, but rather to ensure they have access to their medication when they arrive at their destination. Professor Rob Mejia of the Stockton University Cannabis Studies Department, who has written extensively on the topic, notes that the key is to separate the travel process from the treatment, waiting until arrival before using the substance.
As the popularity of cannabis grows among older adults, it is likely that more seniors will be seeking to travel with their medication. The TSA’s updated guidelines aim to provide clarity and ease for patients who need to use cannabis to manage their conditions while on the go.
