Mississippi Medical Cannabis Hotline Launched to Provide Immediate Guidance and Support

Mississippi’s Medical Cannabis Program Sees Rise in Calls, Launches Dedicated Hotline

As Mississippi’s medical cannabis program continues to expand, the state’s Poison Control Center has introduced a new hotline to provide immediate guidance and support to patients and healthcare providers. The free and confidential hotline is available daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and connects callers with trained specialists who can assess symptoms, answer questions, and guide next steps.

The hotline was launched in response to a growing number of calls related to non-medical cannabis exposures, including accidental use, dosing errors, side effects, drug interactions, and unintended ingestion involving children or pets. According to Mallory Pullman, managing director of the Mississippi Poison Control Center, the hotline aims to provide a trusted and accessible resource for information and guidance.

With the legalization of medical cannabis and the implementation of the Mississippi Medical Cannabis Act, the Poison Control Center recognized the need for a dedicated hotline to support patients and providers navigating the complexities of medical cannabis use. The hotline is a vital resource for those seeking guidance on the safe and responsible use of medical cannabis.
