Colorado State Patrol Evidence Trailer Burglarized, 600 Pounds of Marijuana Stolen
In a shocking incident, a Colorado State Patrol evidence trailer in Arapahoe County was broken into and approximately 600 pounds of marijuana was stolen. The stolen marijuana was scheduled to be destroyed. The theft was discovered during a routine property walkthrough on April 4, when an evidence technician found damage to a secured gate and a trailer.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects had used a power tool to remove the locks on the gate and trailer, which had been taken into evidence as part of a highway drug investigation. The Colorado State Patrol has filed a report with the Englewood Police Department and is seeking information on two vehicles involved in the burglary: a light-colored 1999-2005 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab and a white 2007 Honda CRV.
The Colorado State Patrol has increased security measures at the evidence facility, including regular security camera system checks and exterior property walkthroughs, to identify security issues faster and ensure evidence integrity. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Colorado State Patrol at 303-239-4501.
